"The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do."
- Steve Jobs

A twenty-year veteran commercial litigator, Yeeling is KEMP’s pragmatist-in-chief. She approaches each case with her focus squarely on her clients’ business objectives and the real value her expertise can add.

Clients value her straight-shooting guidance and trust her to fight determinedly for the right resolution.

Commercial litigation chose Yeeling, rather than the other way around: it was a fit for her assertive, tenacious style, and propelled her to partnership in a Big Law environment at a young age. That fast-track success gave her a thorough technical grounding – and also a desire to practise in the setting most conducive to doing her best work.

KEMP is that setting: a firm of friends who bring heavyweight expertise to helping power their clients’ success, and who cultivate a nimble, flexible and mutually supportive environment in which to do it.

Yeeling Wan's Expertise

What sets you apart as a lawyer?
I would say I’m naturally pragmatic, cynical and curious. I like to help clients with practical solutions, and I’m not inclined to ‘sugar coat’ things; honesty is vital. I try to put myself in every client’s shoes and think about how I would like my lawyer to act and what value that lawyer is bringing. Results are key, but the saying is true: people will never forget how you made them feel.
How would you pitch Kemp to a stranger you met in an elevator?
KEMP is a collective of experienced and talented lawyers with Big Law backgrounds. We have a wealth of knowledge and expertise but we are nimble and flexible with it. We are friendly, professional and genuinely want to help you, regardless of the size of the project. KEMP is a close knit team of people who have known and liked each other for many years.
What do you love about life in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is both easy and hard to love: the people here are so passionate and hard-working yet professional life can feel brutal and cutthroat in places. I like the city’s many contrasts. From a work point of view, Hong Kong has so many possibilities and opportunities. Almost everyone I have met has a can-do attitude.
